Avo is for babies too

~ by Sasha

I’m much more of a recipe writer than a journalist, but blogging is a lot more personal than writing articles – I think – so here goes…

Being a new mom is the most rewarding thing, and of course my child is just the sweetest (as all moms probably say!)…my little boy is quite advanced for his age (most moms probably say that too!) and has been showing signs that he is keen to move on from mommy’s milk. So it was, over a relaxed Sunday lunch two days ago, that we offered him some of the creamy “ripe and ready” avo on my plate. As a true team player and Avocado magazine ambassador, he very excitedly scoffed a couple of teaspoons of it – and another teaspoon fed his clothes!

Jesse is an Avo fan, like his mom
Avocado puree is a great first-food for babies - it's packed with nearly 20 essential nutrients like fibre, potassium, vitamin E, B vitamins and folic acid. It is also a nutrient booster, which means it helps the body absorb more fat-soluble nutrients such as beta-carotene and lutein. In addition to this, avos are sodium and cholesterol free!

Easy avocado puree (for babies and your nachos)

Peel and de-pit a ripe avocado, remove flesh and mash - creamy and delicious for baby. For a delicious guacomale to add to your nachos, finely chop 2 tomatoes and an onion, add salt and pepper, and mix.
